About SCI Repair
Due to athletic-related injuries, accidents, and other causes, spinal cord injuries (SCI) have become more prevalent than ever before. In the past, people with these injuries were forced to live with permanent disabilities due to the lack of treatment options. However, new technologies have led to greater success in the treatment of SCI.
It is a difficult task to convey new research to the world. This website is aimed to provide the latest breakthroughs in SCI repair research as well as information related to clinical centres and rehabilitation centres. The hope is that through SCI Repair (Spinal Cord Injury Repair Information Centre), such fundamental information can be better communicated to a larger audience, and an injury once deemed impossible to treat can be treated.
Millions of people worldwide are affected by SCI-based paralysis resulting from car accidents, sport injuries, and other causes. With the use of collagen-based scaffolding in SCI repair, once considered “permanent injuries” can be treated. As treatment for acute SCI is becoming a reality, it is hopeful that in the future, the same technology can be used to treat both acute and chronic injury patients. It is found that collagen-based scaffolding promotes axon regeneration, spinal cord regeneration, sense restoration, and movement recovery. It is hopeful that this technology can be used in the near future to promote a better quality of life for those affected by SCI.
